Faster bets results to more revenue

I wanted to redesign the app to be more user-oriented and keep users immersed. The previous design wasn't captivating and added a few extra seconds to users' time to reach certain tabs or picks because of confusion about certain buttons or an overly long page.

What do gamblers want?

User 1:

UI is extremely confusing and hard to navigate. "Having to hit “show more” each time you wanna take an alternate spread makes no sense"

User 2:

The entire experience is extremely forceful and looks out of date when comparing to other sportsbooks like Draftkings and Fanatics

Lock and Load

The Fanduel logo speaks for itself; no words are needed.

Access to rewards and all sports

When you open up the app, Fanduel has an unorganized and extremely spaced layout that forces users to take upwards of 2 minutes to find certain props or games that they want to focus on. Once I condensed everything and made it easy to scroll, it cut the time down by 30%.

More options for every better

Fanduel Home Page (Light).png

On the current Fanduel front page, the rewards section is too large, and there's too much empty space between sections. This pulls the user's focus away from the games because of the empty space and the promotional parlays they want to push.

For every user, taking an alternate line instead of the line the sportsbooks give has always been a popular choice. Just because it's popular doesn't mean you need endless scrolling, and the whole section takes up half a page.

Instead of spending endless seconds finding the right selection, why not keep the scroll motion but switch it from up and down to left and right? It's faster and easier for the eyes to register and correlate which number goes with which.

What are the odds?

A betting slip should be simple while including multiple options in front of you to 'lock in' your bets in a timely manner.

How much did I gamble?

The profile screen shouldn't be overly complex in its layout and labels. As long as it conveys the necessary numbers and documents, that's all it needs.

Key Takeaways

Empathizing with users: Understanding users' pain points, needs, and goals helps designers deliver a better user experience, reducing confusion and frustration and supporting a smoother flow throughout the app.

Feedback: Feedback throughout the design process helps designers identify issues and improve the design through real-life users.
